Automotive Air Conditioning:
- Service.
- De-gas & Re-gas.
- Repairs.
- Evaporators.
During the servicing of your car's air conditioner, we will remove all of the gas from the air conditioning system. Then, we will check and replace any faulty O rings and seals. Providing that there are no further problems with the system such as leaks etc, we will re-gas the air conditioner.
Today's modern vehicles have "OZONE SAFE" 134a refrigerant(gas), older vehicle's air conditioners have "OZONE" depleting R12 refrigerant. There are strict guidelines in regard to the evacuation and handling of these older style air conditioners. Because R12 refrigerant is no longer used or produced, air conditioners will have to be retro-fitted(changed over to the new gas type 134a). This is generally not a major issue as it only requires changing over a few of the components in the air conditioning system.
We can repair/replace faulty hoses, compressors, condensors and general fittings. However, some components such as receiver-dryers(the filter for the airconditing system), TX valves, etc cannot be repaired. We do however, carry a large range of air conditioner parts in stock.
The evaporator is the most difficult component in the car to diagnose as it sits behind the dashboard along with the car heater. In most cases, the whole dashboard of the car has to be removed to gain access to this part so that it can be removed. Also, they cannot be repaired and thus must be replaced. Due to the amount of time and labour required for this job, we reccommend that the heater is also replaced at the same time.
